This post is mainly for me so feel free to skip it. I just was thinking today that I wish I had been better at keeping a journal through my other pregnancies because I'd love to be able to compare them so I'm going to write down as much asi can remember now before I lose even more memories.
My first pregnancy happened not long after we got married but only lasted until about week 13. I felt normal but mild pregnancy symptoms until about week 10. At the time I just thought I'd lucked out and would have an easy pregnancy but later learned the baby stopped growing at that point and it just took a few weeks to lose the baby. I got super sick after that and had two cycles of shingles on my back ( and actually gave Blake's two youngest sisters the chicken pox right before another sister's wedding before i knew what it was) but that's another story.
When I was pregnant with Logan I had a fairly typical pregnancy. I craved tuna and used to go to Subway every Friday when it was the special. I got really swollen with Logan to the point where I have stretch marks even on the back of my knees because they got so big. I gained a ton with this pregancy, too. I started off at about 105-110 and gained about 50-60 pounds. It was over half my body weight but the doctors said nothing was wrong. I felt like that girl who blows up on Willy Wonka for the last few months. I went into labor on my own and had contractions for a full day before they finally got close enough to go to the hospital. It still was taking so long to progress at the hospital that they had to give me pitocin and Logan started going into stress and pooped in there during labor. They almost had to do a c-section but we finally got there. When I was ready to push, they made me wait with him in the birth canal for 30 minutes until the doctor got there. Poor Logan came out all bruised from waiting so long. If that happened to me now I would ignore the nurses and just do it but with your first you just don't know enough to do something like that. I remember the actual pushing part went very quickly and he was out in like 10 minutes once the doctor finally got there.
Brin's pregnancy was pretty typical too. I don't remember craving anything specific just being super hungry all the time and never being able to feel full for long. One weird thing with her pregnancy was how soft my stomach was. I could feel her whole body wiggling around when I touched my stomach. I didn't swell up with this pregnancy until my feet got swollen in the last week or two. I only gained about 40-45 pounds with thisone. I was induced with Brin and it went a ton faster that time. She came out in about three pushes and wasn't nearly as bruised as Logan was. Her nose was all smashed in and huge though and she looked pretty funny for the first few days until the swelling went down. She was incredibly demanding from day one and screamed and screamed that first night because she was hungry and wasn't getting enough from nursing. I finally caved and her a bottle and I remember being shocked when she drank a full 6 ounces her first feeding. She was a hard baby and was always either screaming or eating for the first year and a half. It's a good thing she was cute enough to make up for it. :)
I've been a lot sicker with this pregnancy and it's lasted much longer. I still have bad days but it's more like once every week or so now instead of every other day. I've been craving barbeque and picnic foods this time like corn on the cob, baked beans, hamburgers, fried chicken, and anything with barbeque sauce. I'm halfway right now and have gained about 6 pounds as of my last appointment. I felt this one move a lot earlier than the others. He seems to have a little dance party going on every night at around 11. His favorite place to kick seems to be my belly button and it's so funny watching my belly button pop in and out every time he kicks.
